1. Looking Ahead With WordPress Thesis

I’m excited to say that I have been able to get a hold of the WordPress Thesis theme. I am very, very impressed with it so far and I am making some radical (but very much so needed) changes to the website. My goal is that this will be the last huge change I make to the site for some time.

Because of the great versatility and malleability of Thesis, I will be able to completely customize the look and feel of the new site. I’ve been some time to thoroughly look through the site, look at other websites, and I think I’ve come up with some solutions to problems I have been facing.

1) While I like the way the website it laid out now, it is not as user friendly as I would like it to be. To put it bluntly, there needs to be more going on when a user visits the page. Right now it is bland. I plan on changing that up with the new edits.

2) Thesis is very SEO friendly, something that this current theme lacks mightily.

3) The newer, improved site will be more aesthetically pleasing.

I’m doing this all on a test site, so don’t worry about the live site – you won’t feel any of the mistakes I make during the testing and development process. Now that summer has rolled around, I have a lot of free time to put into this project.

My current goal is to have the improved layout and format implemented no later than Friday, May 14th. That should give me plenty of time to develop and fix and bugs.

I want to say that I am very thankful for all the faithful readers! I can’t wait to get more quality content rolled out over the summer!

You may notice some funky things going on with the website in the next 2-3 days, but everything should be back to normal very soon, with the exception that it *should* load and run much, much faster.

I hope you are all doing swell and dandy. I just wanted to give a quick shout-out to a guest post that I made on Quick Online Tips entitled “How To Get Your New Website Indexed Quickly”. It outlines how I got this website indexed by Google within 48 hours of it going live.

You are probably guessing, “What in the world does this have to do with singing?” Well, to be honest, it doesn’t really have anything to do with singing other than it is how I got this site visible on the web.

Thank you for all of your comments and feedback! I could not have asked for more as far as the reports and results go. I keep hearing over and over again about how nice it is to have a website dedicated to singing that doesn’t look like it was created in the mid 1990s. Graphics and layout do matter!

As I look into the future, I’m excited about the possibilities here at Forever Singing. The summer proves to be a promising time for growth and I cannot wait to get started on some new (but secret) projects for the site. You have all been and continue to be a wonderful audience!

1. Content! Content is king as the saying goes, and I firmly believe this. In light of this mantra, I will be adding a large stock of articles to the articles section of the website. I want to expand that section in hopes of it becoming a good resource for singers of all levels.

2. Audio and visual demonstrations of exercises and techniques. Since singing is an audio type of deal, I am working on developing some good audio and visual examples to aid the articles. Be on the lookout for a new section of the site dedicated to audio and visual stuff!

I plan on implementing these updates all at once, so it will take a little time to get things prepared. In the meantime, I will continue to offer posts aimed at helping you learn how to sing better!

Things are finally beginning to come together. Content is coming along. Visitors are showing up and liking the site. Everything is going swell for the first week of operation.

I am still waiting for the site to be indexed so we can spread this site to the rest of the world! The information here is valuable – just have to wait for the site to get picked up by search engines.

I’m working on making the site load quicker and more efficiently as well as fixing some known issues with the site display on certain browsers.
